Has anybody reported problems with using the reaction rod as to locator pins being sheared off when using?

you mean the lugs that mate with the BBL extension lugs? First I have heard of it. I have one and he it has been great so far - I have done about 6 BBL's and FH's with it.

I've built 3 rifles and changed FH's and barrel on several others with mine. It's the BEST tool in the world! When I built my 308 I cheaped out and bought the Brownells knock off thinking I'd save a few bucks since I was only going to use it once... mistake. The reaction rod is FAR superior.

There have been a few posts here and over on TOS about sheared off indexing pins from people using the reaction rod. Mostly while trying to remove stubborn stuck on barrel nuts.

This does not surprise me much since the forces applied while using a reaction rod are about the same as when using barrel blocks.
