So I picked up my new Larue Tactical predatAR yesterday just in time for my law enforcement carbine class today.  I installed a Super 3-gun trigger in the predatAR (we need to have single stage triggers, department policy). I function checked it a few dozen times and it was fine.

Today at the class everything was running fine until near the end of the class. About 300 rounds through the gun at this point.

We were doing some slow 3 shot groups in the prone position. I squeezed off a round, held the trigger to feel the reset but the trigger never went forward to reset itself. I took my finger off the trigger, then put it back on and tried to pull the trigger and it never reset, the safety would not engage. I had to pull the charging handle to cycle it, ejecting a live round and getting back on target. this happened 4 times total today. Same exact malfunction from different shooting positions.

There was another malfunction but I am not totally sure it wasn't me. We were doing shooting from the seated position. Our bodies are bladed to the target and elbows tucked inside or knees for support. I pulled the trigger and 2 rounds went off. I am not sure if my body caused a bump fire situation or there is an outside chance it was the trigger. I just thought I would mention it because of the earlier malfunctions. either that or it was the worlds fastest inadvertent double tap

I removed the trigger and replaced it with a 4.5lb timney for the meantime (it is the only other single stage trigger I have on hand) Also the instructor said my super 3 gun trigger pull felt too light for department standards (we need a 4lb minimum pull, single stage only). he did not have a trigger pull gauge on hand but thought it felt too light.

Here are some pics of the trigger. I did not notice anything wrong with the way it was installed or any noticeable wear but please let me know if you see something out of spec. Yes the large end of the disconnecter spring was down in the trigger.

Please call the shop asap and ask to speak to a tech about a heavier trigger spring. Let us know if this is used as a duty weapon.
Thanks

Just got off the phone and I am going to send in my trigger and get it looked at and some heavier springs installed. Great customer service on the phones too, fast and friendly people.

From the pictures the trigger looks like it rubbing on the safety.  Right hand side.  You may have to open up the safety slot a little.  There is no reason why the trigger would not go forward unless its jammed against something.

I would not recommend an S3G for a duty weapon.  Way too radical of a trigger for a work gun.  Use an SSA instead.  If a single stage is required the ALG QMS or ACT should be considered

i had a similar issue, i was told the trigger had reset and re-fired before the next round was chambered. seems plausible...I have also encountered a few doubles as a result of not shouldering the rifle properly. outside of them upgrading the spring(for duty use), it was probalby working properly.

Thank you for the insight. I was running a BAD ASS ambi safety. Everything was brand new so maybe everything was a little tight.

I did mail the trigger back for inspection and heavier spring install already. I do need a single stage trigger with a minimum 4lb pull for work so I will look at the other triggers you suggested and I will end up using this super 3-gun in another rifle.

update today 7/23.

A tech called me from geissele today. I did not catch his name but he told me he had received my trigger and tested it. we talked over the possible problems of the malfunctions and also that the trigger is not suited for a duty rifle. He told me he would still install the stiffer springs for me. We had also talked about possible the new BAD ASS safety rubbing on the trigger not allowing it to reset.

He also told me he was going to perform a hammer modification.

Fantastic customer service. What can I say. For me to send back a part, to have a tech personally call me and discuss the issues is fantastic and un-heard of in this day and age.

Thanks again and you have earned more of my business from this complication...if that makes sense
