Looking for ideas of link retrieval when they come come flying out of my Shrike! Sometimes at the range one can't place for instance a hand truck with large piece of cardboard to stop & deflect the links into a controlled area. It was easy in the past with my 1919 as the links simply fell underneath the gun. Looking for ideas.......... |

At the local ACE hardware store, I found a magnet about 4" in diameter with a swivel head mount and threaded for a standard paint brush handle. Then they also had a 3 piece wooden paint brush handle set. I leave the magnet attached to one section and the other two unscrewed in my range bag. Each handle piece is about a foot long, maybe a little more. Total cost was about $10-15.
It works great for sweeping the ground to pick up the links. Also works well for picking up Wolf or other steel case empties. So, see what your local hardware store can hook you up with. |

I started searching for brass catchers earlier and I ended up ordering the AR15/M16 one from this place:

E&L Mfg. also makes a brass catcher that works well on the Shrike. The "Universal" brass catcher uses two rods that you install on the top cover rail, then the box attaches to them so it can be installed and removed very quickly. The rods can be left in place, as they are small and extra sets can be ordered so you can use the catcher on different guns.
http://elmfg.com/store/univbc.html Sorry- can't remember how to make link live. |

I also have a webbed nylon brass catcher that velcros itself around the handguard. Will see if I can get it to catch links while shooting in the standing position. |
| Does anyone have any experience with the catcher from, Tacticalbrassrecovery.com??? The Utube videos look good but it's $159.99 and I'll spend only if it works. My experience with the run of the mill brass catchers that either clamp on to stock forearms or velcro around it only work reliably in semi-auto. As soon as I switch to full-auto the rifle jams! My shrike has the stock forearm. |
