Anyone know a place to buy a good linker?
I have seen several models, but no feedback on which one works better. Thanks |

Just got one from Guiette Manufacturing, works great, fast turn around and ordering plates for the 308 and 30-06 in the BMG.
While can do by hand with M27 links (the MFT links with holes are a pain ;-), the linker works much nicer if doing thousands of rounds at a time. |

How long does it take to link 100 rounds using the linker? First time though spent a half hour to link 500 rounds, but took a close second look at each link for any rust (they are sitting open side up in the linker) and checked each linked round closely to make sure was going well. Linking no longer goes as fast now that the son is teaching college, I have to pick my own links and ammo. |

I just got my linker from Guiette Manufacturing, Inc. on Monday. I missed the "Mail Lady" on Saturday so I had to dream about linking ammo all weekend.
It's not listed on their web page, so I asked, and they do make a de-linker for the M27 links. I'll tell you that the de-linker is worth it's weight in gold!!! If you linked up ammo 30 years ago in the Canadian HK-23 links (the one's with the hole ala M-60 style), this is what you want to get your ammo back. The HK-23 links are so tight that I can only de-link four (4) at a time. I can de-link a whole plate of M27 linked ammo. One other little thing I like about this linker, it links 25 rounds at a time. Makes it easy counting of 100 & 200 rnd belts for a knuckle head like me.

I have also used my plate to double check a couple belts of already linked ammo, just lay the belt in a couple times to get to 50 and fold over to go to 100.
Have tried also linking a pile of 23 round belts (one open each end) and then put them together when done to 50 round belts. For the next shoot out west, one of the guys is taking ammo cans of 50 round belts for his HK23e and then linking them together as needed (less tangle with the short belts, plus is enough when letting others shoot ;-) |

M60 Joes linker is OK.
It comes with no instructions, but I thought it looked pretty straight forward. Put the links in, then ammo and pull the lever. That doesn't work. You have to barely push on the handle push all the bullets down. (repeat this stem 2-3 times) get bullets to start sliding in the links. Push all the bullets back out of the holes in the linker. Push the handle another 1/4' forward and then push the partially linked belt back. It's very hard to explain how to do it. Once you get the hang of it's it's pretty easy. It's just not as fast as you would think. Still faster than hand linking though. |
