I was wondering if you guys mark your chrome lined barrels differently than the non-chromed.

The reason I ask is because I have a 16" A1 lightweight barrel that was purchased from Brownells several years ago as a DOUBLE STAR and I cannot tell if it is chrome lined or not. I was told it was chrome lined at the time so I never really thought about it. The markings on my barrel are 5.56 Nato 1-9. Nothing else.

Thanks for any help.

The chrome lined barrels are marked "CHROMED", or a few batches got marked "CHROME LINED".  If it was marked 5.56 NATO 1-9, that is not a chrome lined barrel.

Jesse,

I bought an 11.5" lightweight kit from you guys a couple years back and specifically called in and asked this question.  I was told that my 5.56 1-9 marked barrel, was chrome lined, as that's what I ordered, however I couldn't really see the chrome lining in the chamber or at the muzzle.

I don't know if the 11.5's are different, since there isn't a lot of real estate forward of the FSB to mark on, but I would like some clarification on the matter.

Thanks.

On the 11.5" it should be marked in a similar manner.  We did have to have some barrels marked under the HG for lack of real estate, but to my knowledge we haven't shipped out any barrels that were chrome lined but not marked as such.

Thanks,

Jesse

Thanks for the response Jesse.

However, I guess that doesn't settle the issue for me all the way.

I just am wondering why I now have what I believe to be a non-chromed barrel when I paid for chrome lining.

I guess the biggest thing was the fact that I even called in and asked right after I  received the kit, because the barrel
was not marked, and I could see no evidence on the bore or chamber that chrome lining was present.  I was told
that it if I ordered a chrome lined barrel, then that's what I had.

Now I just do not think that is the case.  I even made a point to call and ask before I assembled the kit, because if it wasn't
chrome lined, I was going to send it back.  Like I said, I was assured that it was a chrome lined barrel, so I just took that as fact, even
though I couldn't find any evidence that the barrel was chrome lined.  I didn't want to eat shipping just to return it for you guys to inspect it
or more importantly, accuse someone of lying just because I couldn't see the chrome lining.

No worries, we'll get you taken care of.  If you'll send the barrel or the barreled upper back to us, along with a note that includes your information so that we can look up your invoice (or a copy of your invoice if you happen to still have it).  Would you happen to remember who you spoke with?  I'm sure that I wouldn't after that length of time, and there's a good chance that the person no longer works here anyway, but if so, I'll make sure that they are made aware of their mistake.  That should be one of the first things that anyone at our shop learns about barrels.

Thanks,

Jesse

Thanks Jesse.  Unfortunately, no I don't remember who I spoke with.  I know I called in and spoke to a lady, and then was transferred to some other gentleman.  I know I don't have a copy of my invoice with me right now, and I think I would be hard pressed to find it (if you saw my gun room you would understand ).

If it would be more convenient, I could always run by, as I am in Lexington, and Winchester is only a 15 min. drive for me.  However,  I can always ship if you prefer that, and will include a note will all my info.  I really appreciate all of your attention to this.  Thanks so much Jesse.

What would probably be easier would be if you could drop it by The Gun Warehouse, as I'll be by there tomorrow for the range open house, that way you don't have to drive as far (and if you are like me an excuse to drop by is always good, although sometimes expensive).  If you can't make it until the weekend, I stop by there at least once a week since it's just around the corner from my gym.  Just let any of the guys know and they'll hold onto it for me.  I can look up your order in our system by name, so if you'll just include that in your note I'll get you taken care of.

Jesse,

I dropped it off there on Friday.  I didn't know if you have gotten a chance to pick it up yet or not.

Thanks.

Dang, I was just there last night and forgot to ask about it.  I'll see if Nick could stop by tonight and pick it up.  Sorry for the delay.

Got the barrel swapped out and test fired.  I should have that back at the Gun Warehouse today waiting on you this afternoon.

Thanks,

Jesse
