I would like to know what "Military" their (DS on Budsgunshop) fire control parts are "contracted" for, since the US military doesn't use semi auto fire control parts. Unless they come with FA/burst parts?
DS website: Only mil-spec parts are used in the construction of this fine carbine. Would that be the "mil-spec" non chrome lined 1/9 barrel that, being 4140, specifically is NOT MIL-11595E certified? Or, for that matter, the chrome lined 1/9 barrel (same thing). |

Our new site designer used an excerpt of verbage for the descriptions on the site update and fell victim to the copy/paste error bug. This was not an attempt at supplying false information for deception, it was a proofing error. Our web guy is not a gunny, and is not intimately familiar to the terminology/spec's of our industry. He has been made aware of the issue and should have it revised and uploaded tomorrow. I apologize to anyone who was offended or was misinformed by this oversight in proofing.
To address: I would like to know what "Military" their (DS on Budsgunshop) fire control parts are "contracted" for, since the US military doesn't use semi auto fire control parts. Unless they come with FA/burst parts? -Our fire control parts are made by the main supplier of fire control components for the two primary M16 contractors for the U.S. Military. I may be mistaken, but by my addition, that would qualify as those components being made by the military contractor. We have offered models under the DSC logo with MIL-11595E certified barrel steel, 1x7, F sight, M-4 feed ramps, Mil-Spec RET, basically a semi-auto version of an M-4 with a 16" barrel rather than a 14.5". Sales on that variety were very limited and the distributors did not pick up that model. Similar results came from the CDD M-4 LE, CDD LED (both similar M-4 setups, the LED had some Magpul components), CDD M-4 LT (same setup but with a LW barrel), and the CDD MCA4 (M16A4 semi-auto variant) that we did. Before it comes up, as it always does, I understand that it is impossible for a AR variant to be Mil-Spec. The majority of the components that we use come from military contractors and on the proper components, are made to modified prints (as required to qualify as a semi-automatic firearm). The majority of the barrels that we run are 4140 with a 1x9 twist rate. This is most popular variety of our industry, and works for the largest majority of ammunition that will be used in them, 55-62 gr. FMJ. One of the things that we do is offer a large variety of configurations that can be custom built to the specifications of the customer both in parts kits and in complete rifles. So if you need a 16" (or 14.5" with a particular flash hider permanently installed) AR version of a Mil-Spec gun, that can be supplied. If you need an economical base AR, we supply that too, as well as everything in between. We aim to please all of our customers, not just a particular group of them. That being said, we are a business with a limited inventory budget, so majority of our budget and attention goes to the largest portion of our sales, which falls into the more budget minded customers. If all components were the same price, the majority of people would probably opt for the MIL-11595E barrel steel, chrome lined, but a large portion of those are not willing to pay a premium for that option. I hope that I have been of some help. Feel free to ask other questions as long as it's not the infamous "Who makes XXXX for you?", as that is not something that I can disclose or else it would be listed somewhere (e.g. Barrel Makers). There are only a couple of companies in the country that make the majority of their components, we do the same as nearly everyone else in our industry (or most industries), we sub-contract a large portion of our parts to outside vendors. Thanks, Jesse |

The page source from your webpage says it was created on March 24 2009 - even if it's a typo and it was 2010, wouldn't you check your new webpage for accuracy in 2 months? The FCG reference was a quote from budsgunshop.com and you obviously cannot control what someone else says on their webpage. I think we would be splitting hairs if we discussed that anyway. The barrel reference is from your own website and nothing seems to be cut and paste there - each rifle has a unique description. The CDD ARs were priced within spitting distance of Colt, LMT, Daniel Defense and the like, and while they offered many of the, for lack of a better term, "mil spec" features, they lacked other features that people who are willing to pay $1000-1200 for an AR are looking for, including, but not limited to, those relating to NDT. I do not know what your branded version(s) sold for, but I would suspect that it was in a similar price range? The Spikes M4 LE offers all of the above features and more, but can be ordered directly from them for around $750 - with a rear sight - after a discount code. They have been selling enormous amounts of those rifles and uppers. Would they have sold nearly as well if they were priced like the CDD ARs? I don't think so. By the way, I was one of the first "fanboys" of the CDD ARs here on Arfcom. You seem to put forth the notion that the "feature-laden" ARs cannot have a wide appeal to the commercial market. I beg to differ - they can have a wide appeal, if they are priced right. |
| We see J T kits now selling for 499.99 plus shipping for me it makes the BCM and SPIKES uppers worth it. We keep seeing J T and model one prices going up and the rest coming down. I love my ds and JT rifles but I am usually on a budget and 40. or 50. means alot right now, So I am leaning to that Delton kit that is 465.00 that is minus a couple of things I dont need and shipped or the DSA deal going on since I have every thing else to go with it already. Right now I dont even really know what prices you have I havent seen a new catalogue and the shot gunnews adds up till a month ago were saying those basic kits were 459.99. The website does not have the options I want and when I call they cant really tell me anything. I know you guys have been real busy lately and I am by no means trying to put anyone down I just simply am going to shop around this time. |
