I have a 14.5 in Midlength CMMG upper.  It has a perm attached YHM flashider and a standard A2 front sight/gas block.  I am wanting to install a Troy/VTAC alpha rail.  I would like to keep the standard A2 front sight on the rifle though.  I am assuming a 9in rail is the one I need but...is there anyway to install the rail without having to cut off the A2 sight.  Will the alpha rail slide over the A2 sight?

Can I get the inside dimensions of the rail/tube?  From the bottom to the top/inside of the top rail.  Would I have to pull the barrel and install it from the other end?  Or am I just pissing in the wind

Thanks for the help.

you are right the alpha rail won't slide over the a-2 sight. they do make a sight that is a clamp on style so you would be able to have your a-2 but it is either cut the pinned on  flash hider or cut the sight. i don't know off the top of my head who make the clamp on sight but that is the route i would go.
