RRA stopped including a chromed BCG in the Elite Operator 2 [no source].  My question is what BCG [NIB or?] would work in this carbine?  Does the configuration and weight of the BCG need to be matched to the rifle's buffer?  Since RRA is not 'Mil-spec' how would you know which BCG is compatible?
Thanks...

Just about any standard bolt carrier group (semi or auto, with just about any finish, from just about any manufacturer) as long as the bolt headspaces correctly to the barrel extension in use.

Thanks Steve.

But how would I match the headspace of a purchased BCG to my rifle?

Is there a standard Op 2 headspace as delivered from RRA?  Nothing I received from RRA indicated what the headspace of my carbine is.

Also, is there a "superior" manufacturer of BCGs?

And same question for the treatment of BCG surface; is there a "best"?

The bolt carrier has very little to do with headspace, it's all about the bolt and its relationship to the barrel extension.
You'll need to use go and no go gauges to verify head space.  You could either use your currenr bolt in a new carrier (still need to verify) or replace it all if you desire.
As to the preferred bolt carrier and finish....there's absolutely nothing wrong with the one you have right now.  The incidence of bolt carrier failure is so minute that it really can't be calculated except using ratios with one to several hundred thousand, and the phosphated finish and chrome-lined bore is "spec"...as are the materials used in both finishing and the actual components.

Steve...not being affraid to bare my ignorance...headspace is the distance from base of a cartidge in the chamber to the face of the bolt.

My question is what is the headspace [HS] of the RRA Op 2 I just received?  What does RRA set the headspace to?  Range, if not exact distance.  If each Op 2 from RRA has a slightly different HS, what are the extremes that RRA uses as specs?

Thanks...

Head space is a measurement from a specific point on the shoulder (the datum point where forward progress of the loaded and properly-sized cartridge is stopped by that portion of the chamber if you want to be really technical) to a specific point on the bolt face.  You don't "set" headspace per se, as there is no practical way to do so.  You match bolts with barrels (with extension already installed) for proper headspace (both go and no-go).  Your rifle has safe head space having been inspected and gaged while th eupper was being built.  It has also been test-fired by a real "living and breathing" shooter at an outdoor range with multiple rounds of regularly loaded ammunition.
