I just recently mounted a light/laser and scope to my AR (RRA NM A4) and I'm considering a bipod.  I'm just not sure how a bipod mounts to the rifle.  I'd probably have to move my light/laser, but does the bipod mount to Picatinny rails?  Any particular brands considered high-quality?  Harris seems to be a popular choice.

Some mount to rails, others attach to a sling swivel stud. And Harris is an excellent bipod, tho you'll likely have a couple of "know-it-alls" chime in about some 2-300 dollar super-duper combat bipod, and how anything less is junk.

The Harris is an excellent choice, the reason it is so popular. I don't recommend the $40 - $50 dollar knock offs that are like a Harris, cuz they are not (in my experience). On the NMA4 you will need the Harris adaptor. The Harris mounts to a sling swivel stud. The adaptor can be bought for either a rail or a standard A2 handguard. Pretty inexpensive through Midway and others.

Many thanks to you and coyotemisser for the advice... particularly regarding the adapter since I didn't know the one I had in mind attached to a swivel stud.  I did a little more research & settled on a 6-9" made by Harris for about $123 on OpticsPlanet.

Good choice, I put a couple hundred rounds downrange with my 6"-9" Harris on the Larue Mount, really like it.
