Steve,

Can I order a CAR upper, with Low Profile Gas Block and 9" DD quad rail?  I want this set up and instead of me getting a CAR upper and making the changes myself, I saw on the RRA site, you do sell the LP gas block....

This will save me a lot of trouble.  I measured the RRA uppers I have now with a DD rail and the 9" DD will cover a CAR gas block, just right...

Thanks,

Sure.
Just has to be ordered that way.  We even brought the MI flip front sight for quads into inventory just for that type of application.

Steve,

Do you work at the shop? or are you PR/advertising for RRA?

Thanks,

I'm right here at the "factory".  For now my desk is still in the production/inventory control office, even though I have little to do with either anymore.  My actual titles these days are LE/Government Sales Manager and New Product Development Coordinator.

Steve by chance will the LP gas block fit up under your in house RRA quad rail? I have a CAR and was going to get your Mid length and LP gas block and do the same.

That's what the LP gas block is primarily made for...and one of the main reasons we shifted styles on our free float handguards as well.

Great..... Now for the $10,000 question ..... (newb alert) Anything special, tool wise, to remove the gas block/rail and install the LP gas block on a SS barrel?

I have a CAR A4 with the CAR length quad rail on order about 6 weeks in and the dealer didn't give me the option to do this as it wasn't in his configurator, He couldn't add a Mid legth quad rail and LP gas block. Being new to the AR platform..... (AK junkie) This will be my first dive into the AR15 world and like everything else I want it done right.

Thanks again......

Removing the CAR quad may pose some issues for you if you haven't done it before/don't have the right tools.  Gas ssytem isn't too bad as long as you get it back together with everything where it's supposed to be.
As an option (there woudl be a reprocessing fee involved) your dealer could (assuming it hasn't been built yet) change your order to the new configuation (it might take longer, but you would be money ahead by not having to buy and install "extra" parts after the fact).
For "special" builds, dealers really need to call in rather than try to complete it all through the on-line shopping cart.  It's almost impossible of list all of the different options (custom production) available..especially those which have components that "shouldn't" be available in /on cewrtain models but which become available with a cascade of changes.

Thought about that.... but thought I could order the pistol in the 7" flavor and move the CAR rail to it an get a Middie for the CAR 16" buy two LP gas blocks and I am set. Out of curiosity how does one go about checking order status?

Nevermind the question on order status..... I called, seems like pulling teeth to get any answers. Too, what was on the site for wait time and (when) I ordered aparently changed and went from 6-8 to 10-12 weeks. I explained to the rep I was told six to eight and it is here on my paperwork from the dealer invoice printoff. I am already at 5 weeks all I want to know is if the gun was in production or not. If it was I would leave it be and order a second one so I could at least have one to play with in 3-6 weeks and wait another 4-6 for the keeper to show. If it wasn't in production I would start over and pay the processing fee. I can't even get an answer if it went to production all I got was the estimated delivery of 10-12 weeks speech.

I am sure you get calls there all the time for this and I would expect someone to know production schedule if I specifically asked the operator for someone to help check an order status and was told I would be transferred to someone who could help me. If all you wanted to give was a estimated speech then record it and set the VRU up for the operator to funnel those call into that message system. Needles to say I was/am disapointed............

In the end I decided to cancel the order all together and look elsewhere for a AR. I am sure it is a great product but If a company representative has no knowledge of what is going on in its own walls, won't release informative information or a customer can't get help to make a informed decision it is not a place I feel like spending my money hinking.gif

We certainly understand your decision, but I feel a little more info may have tempered it somewhat.  We build to order, in date order.  A given order, lets call it your order just for this exercise, is only "in production" when it is actually being built.  Once built, it is test-fired, cleaned up, and shipped...all generally on the same day.  A recent order is going to ship, generally, later than an older order.   If all of the compoenents are on-hand on a given day to build all of a given batch of simialr orders, we'll build, to their particular unique orders, all that we can and ship them...again, both built and shipped by date order and availability of all necessary components.
Thanks.

Steve..... The issue wasn't the wait. I waited 3 months for my custom built Jeep. I will wait for quality.

When my call was first answered I made my request all was good. But whe asked for the FFL info of which my reply was I am the customer and I have my RRA order number that is when the conversation nose dived and started getting the 10-12 week speech of which I was merely trying to explaine that my order was placed when the wait times were 6-8 weeks. I was told that needed to be changed on the website is wrong.....that is when I said I was 5 weeks in on a estimated 6-8 weeks previous delivery estimate. Of which I was told basically I was not right it will be 10-12 weeks any changes to order pay the $25 and start wait over. You say a little more info would have helped...... well that wasn't going to happen, no offense I have had nicer conversation with people at the DMV. I felt as if I was wasteing her time and was being rushed off the phone.

I understand production.... no need in a lesson there. I was merely trying to see if AR1221X are being built. I am sure "Production" of 308A1280s are not on the same day by the same tech.... if so...... no wonder wait times are so long. Most production managers group like items. My point was to see if my order was already grouped and scheduled a "tentative" production date...... I do know a little of how you operate by what I have read here.

Like I said, not bashing your company, I am sure it is a great product but there seems to be a issue of getting information out to your customers. Or I just so happened to get someone on the phone who was having a bad day and was being short with the answers.

After talking around I am gonna keep the order as is and order the LP gas block and mid quad rail and do the install myself.... I seriously doubt it could be all that hard.

No problem.  Sorry that Cust Service didn't provide the service that you (or I) would have expected.

You know Steve,  I have been buying stuff from RRA for eight years now, over $25,000 in purchases, and I have NEVER had an issue with CS.....some of the best around, if not the best....the entire staff has gone out of their way for me.....my latest order, I was on the phone with one of the nicest ladies I have ever talked to, I will not say her name, but she is on my list of who to ask for....

Everyone has different expectations and different experiences.  Not necessarily good or bad, just different.  The answer that might be spot on  for one person might not be good enough for someone else.
