May be kind of a noob question, but I'm wondering if these barrels are cut for M4 feed ramps?

Simple answer is "no".
The barrel extension and the upper receiver's compatibiity will be the important angles to consider.  Two different styles exist for this discussion...rifle extensions and M4 extensions.  The ramps (for lack of a better term) that are machined into the extensions are different.  They in turn dictate whether you need to use a receiver with M4 cuts (for use with an M4 extension), or a non-M4 receiver (for "regular" extensions).  We don't use M4 extensions, not M4 receivers.  We do, on factory upper halves and rifles, extend the ramps of the extension into the receiver by following their contour across the right angle of the lower receiver allowing a smoother transition for the round from the magazine to the chamber.  We just call them extended fed ramps.

So then when buying an upper receiver, I should get one that is not cut for M4 feed ramps?

Correct,
