At Camp Perry I talked to Chuck because I wanted to buy an RRA Standard A2 20" rifle with a NM 2 stage trigger. Chuck said he didn't have any Standard A2 uppers, but he had a 7"twist chrome lined upper he built for a military contract that fell through. I bought that from him. I am happy with it. When I got home I checked the twist and it is 7". I would like to know if the chamber is .223 Remington, .223 Wylde, or 5.56mm NATO since this was a military contract upper. Thanks |

Those barrels have a .223 Wylde chamber. We did them as a special project that got pulled, so we hung onto the batch of them that we had received prior to cancelation. Chrome-lined bore and chamber, 1:7 twist, full HBAR profile, phosphated exterior finish, 1/2-28 thread for standard muzzle devices. Steve/RRA |

Chrome-lining is actually counter to better accuracy. While it is often within a shooters abilities, the application of chrome CAN degrade accuracy because of variances inthe thickness inthe chrome as it is applied. Generally this effect is minimal, but it can be up to 1/2 MOA(ish). For best accuracy, a Wylde chambered, stainless barrel with a free floated handguard would be the best set up. Steve/RRA |
