Steve, I have shot my RRA 9 mm upper ( on s pikes lower w/RRA block) 1 time .It sporadically had extractiom problems where either the shell did leave or it stove piped, I thought it may be the Promags i was using. I recently modified 4 Uzi 32 rnd mags and was testing the bolt but racking the slide then reracking it to test extraction. On teh promags they werent extracting all the way back and falling free in the bolt area ( simiarl to what happened at the range) With the uzi mags now the bolt isnt catching the rnds but going across the top( i may have cut a littlelow on those) either way how can I fix this issue? I have searched but cant find it in the forums.. |

I would try a factory-cut mag to see if it's a mag or weapon issue. If nothing else, measure your mag cuts against the factory mags and check the mag catch slot location. That is critical...learned that the hard way (several times over) in helping to develop outr new, soon to be released) mag. I would also check the depth of the mag block and make sure its sitting highenough that the mag is in the correct location (if not secured really well, the will move up as mags are slammed in, or walk a little out and down). Make dsure that you're using a standard (not 9mm ) bolt catch and assure that it isn't rubbing against the carrier (also mahke sure that the ejector on the mag block is running in the center of the channel for it in the bolt). You didn't mention what kind of stock you're running...and buffer and spring. If running a CAR length extension, you just need a CAR action spring and 9mm CAR buffer. If using a rifle length extension, you need to be running the same spring and buffer, but with the stock spacer in the tube first (rearward of the spring). Try any/all of these and we can go from there. Steve/RRA |

Car stock with 9MM buffer and spring that came with it(assuming it is the spring) When I use the promags the bolts is catching itso i believe the block is high enough(as high as it will go) The bolt catch is a standard DPMS parts Kit catch. When doing my mags I took the suggestion of another poster(not the wecog dumb me) and scored the mag while inside as far as it would go and the mag catch out (traced the openeing on the mag) and it seems to be sitting to low so i am going to file a little more off the top to get it higher up.. if that doesnet work i am sending my other 10 out to be done lol! ayway I just filled the promags up and held the rifle across my lap and charged the bolt then recharged it till the mag emptied (10 rnds ) I had 3 weak extractions the others flew out as though they had been fired.. |
