Steve:

I have a RRA 16" Varmint on order and have spec'd the ACE ARFX stock. I believe that published length with the standard A2 stock is 34.25". I'm shopping for a case and need to know if the ACE stock adds to the OAL dimension. Should I be OK with a 36" (inside length) case? Thanks.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

The FX stock, without pad, is A1 length...which is 5/8" shorter than A2.  We install the 1/2" pad on the stock, so you should still be right around the same length as with an A2.
I have found by trial and error that no two companies measure their cases inthe same manner.  Some measure inside as a simple linear measure ment from just inside the zipper track at one end to the same location on the other end.  Others allow for the expansion of the case with something a couple of inches wide in it.  Some even do it like a TV and measure diagonally to sell you a case that will accomodate something that length, but not in the right way.
