Hi Steve, I am starting to think about my next RRA upper. I would like to have a mid length with a hidden gas block and a rifle length 4 rail lightwieght free float handguard. I know you don't have this listed as an option. Is it possible to get a build like this or should I just get a middy upper and do the convert myself? thanks, mike |

Steve, In the meantime have 2-1/2 questions. in regards to the RRA midlength: 1) What is the Barrel dia. under gas block? Are the Cromoly and Stainless barrels the same dimensions? 2) How are the flash suppressors attached? Are the A2s and Smith Vortex units screwed on or pinned and welded? FWIW I live in Florida. Thanks, mike |

Mike, We use a straight heavy barrel under the HG, and it's the same diameter on moly, chrome-lined moly, and stainless. Flash hiders are threaded on. The A2 uses a crush washer, the vortex goes on without one. The only thing we pin and weld are permanently emplaced brakes, or the occasional flash hider on a short bbl to get it to legal length (like the post ban R4 bbls that we cut and threaded after the ban expired...made quite a few into 15" bbls with permenet flashhiders). Thanks Steve, Can you tell me the actual diameter on thoose barrels with regard to sizing a gas block? I am looking around at low profile gas blocks designed to fit under/within the hand guard and trying to figure out what will or will not fit the barrel. For example, YHM offers a low profile block in .625 and .750 diameters. thanks again, mike |
