I know RRA has alot of projects on the burner. I have been watching RRA for a while, you guys seem to be very progressive and generaly give customers what they are asking for.

My question is........Has RRA ever considered producing a .45 ACP AR. I was looking at my Colt 9mm. Im no Machinist or AR Designer, but considering RRA is going to make .40 mags. What about making .45ACP mags?

If I were to undertake this I would consider a .45 two piece mag block based on the current Colt system, blocks pinned in place. If the rear block was shaved down in size, and the ears that wrap around the inside of the magwell were eliminated. This would give a wider and longer mag well. I would think a RRA proprietary mag of around 25 round capacity could be produced to fit.

A .45 barrel/chamber, Heavy Buffer and .45ACP Bolt would be nessesary of course but this coud be (and is) done.

Again, Im not trying to spout off as a know it all and this may just be a "wet dream" on my part. I know if a company such as RRA produced such an animal they would sell alot of them. I would purchase a quality RRA dedicated .45 lower and mags in a heartbeat! I know others would also. If it ran well enough you may get some Law Enforcement interest also.

Thanks for your time

Thanks for the input.
You touched on some of the issues, but they, other issues, and their solutions are far more involved than you would imagine.  We've given it some consideration, but a LAR-15 in .45ACP is definitely a back burnered concept at this point.
