I had difficulty zeroing my RRA midlength with an ARMS 40. It shot too high. I raised the front site until it maxed out. No good. I ended up using a BUIS with an elevation adjustment. I also installed a taller front sight post. I called RRA and asked about their FSB. I was told they use the same one on their 16 '' carbines as on their 20''. I just tried a Larue fixed buis. This has no elevation adjustement. It works fine. No trouble zeroing it. Seems to me the ARMS 40 was either out of spec or works best with a 14.5 '' barrel. I have shot my RRA quite a bit. Great gun. I wouldnt worry about the FSB. |

Our apologies. Whomever indicated that we use the same front sight housings on carbines and rifles was incorrect. We have two specific height housings for 16" and 20" barrel assemblies respectively. Carbine housings are slightly taller than rifle housings to eliminate the need to use a taller front sight post. I'm not sure what is going on in this specific instance, but backing the post out all the way, or ging to a taller post, should not have been necessary. Steve/RRA |

Steve: I don't want to beat a dead horse but just so I understand: Is there any problem using an ARMS 40 Low Profile and the standard front sight on a 16" flat top mid-length? The reason I want to be sure is that I also have a 16" flat top mid-length on order from Rock River and I was intending to use an ARMS 40 Low Profile rear sight until I get around to buying an Eotech. If I need to alter my order now is the time to find out. Thanks Tom |

Tom, To the best of my knowledge, you shouldn't have any problems. We've been putting BUISs ob rifles, including thousands for the DEA/DOJ, and they have been fine with our carbine front sight housings (which is used on both CAR and mid-length carbines). While we just started using A.R.M.S. sights, according to my chief armorer and the assemblers who test every upper and rifle at the range before it goes out, they haven't had any problems with sighting in our uppers/rifles with the #40 or #40L.
