What is the removable screw cap on the right side of the detachable tactical carry handle for? I noticed that it has something that resembles a spring inside.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression it was a spot for a spare Aimpoint battery.

Bingo!

Not from personal experience, but seems like I remember reading that you have to be careful which side of the battery faces the spring.  Apparently if you put it in backwards (whatever way backwards is) the battery will drain.

That's what I was thinking also. But I just was curious to know for sure.

Battery compartment for Aimpoint battery.
Really shouldn't matter which way you put it in, as the anodized aluminum won't conduct current...but I always put mine in with the "-" in, and the "+" towards the spring.

Thank you for your response, Steve.
Based on your answer, the detachable tactical carry handle is specifically made for the Aimpoint, correct? I ask this because I would like to know then what you suggest to get it to co-witness with the Aimpoint. My understanding is that using an Aimpoint 30mm ring (picatinny low and x-wide) will work, but from what I see, the sights still are low in the site picture.

You are correct.  When originally designed, perfect co-witness was not intended.  The same holds true for our Dominator EOTech mount which, when used with the factory installed flat-top mount raises the optic 1/4" above the sights...for non-perfect co-witness.

Ok, now I understand. I was originally under the belief that it was intended for perfect co-witness with the Aimpoint.
Steve, thanks so much for your time. Your answers have definitely helped me out.
