I placed an order for a stripped lower through a local retailer about 8 weeks ago, and though I'm a bit anxious to get it, I understand the wait. My build was planned to be one that took several months to accomplish, working section by section, so I've gotten to the point of ordering things that are likely to take a while in advance, like the stripped upper and the barrel. Amazingly, I got the upper just 4 days after I ordered it.
But, I don't think they really give an estimated shipping time on barrels, so if you were told one, you were probably being mislead. Here's a direct quote that I've gotten from every order I've placed with RRA.
In- stock items should ship within 7-10 business days. Please allow 30-60 days for uppers, and complete rifles. Please allow 4-6 weeks for stripped/complete lowers. Please allow 1-4 weeks for 6 position collapsible stocks, two-stage trigger kits, and 4 position collapsible stocks. Barrel orders will be filled upon availability of barrels, at this time we do not have an estimated shipping time.
My 6 position stock only took 4-5 days, and my trigger kit was about the same. I've been pretty impressed by their delivery times, usually faster than what they have told me. The only thing that has taken longer is the lower, which I partially blame on the local retailer.
And remember, they state a time wait of 30-60 days for complete rifles and uppers, but no estimate of shipping on barrels. Well, I just assume that complete rifles and uppers have barrels, so therefore, they must not have an accurate shipping estimate either.
EDIT - It actually gives me a stronger sense that I'm getting a quality product if they are unable to keep up with the demand that is being placed on them.
