Hi Marsh,
I bought a Primary Arms Compact Weapons Light about a year ago. I just put in a new set of batteries as the original ones were dead. The replacement batteries are the Streamlight CR123A 3V Lithium. I was using it last night as basically a flashlight and the body of it started to get warm, then progressively hotter to the point where it was very hot. I don't remember having that issue when the first set of batteries was in it. Is that something normal with it as it was probably designed to be held in a mount versus my hand?? I have a Fenix TK21 that I have used quite a bit an never noticed the body heat up. |
| Well I just tried a little experiment. I placed the light on my desk and shot the temp of the body with an IR Thermometer and the body of the light was 72.5*. I turned the light on and after about 8 minutes or so the temp of the body went up to 98.5*. I don't know how long I had it on the other night, but I didn't want to leave it on too long as there is a new set of CR123A batteries in it, but I think it was on longer than 8 minutes so I'm guessing the temp would go up a little more, but probably not much. |
