I recently purchased a Para Congo and had to replace to bolt hold open as the old one had the pin ground off and would not lock back. I didn't shoot it, but it wouldn't lock back on a mag so I replaced the bolt hold open and it locked back perfect. No problem.
Today I get to the range and the gun simply will not function. It will fire, but will not extract and takes a hammer to knock the bolt back and extract the case. I fired a total of 3 rounds, each one requiring hitting the charging handle with a hammer to extract the spent case. I changed the gas setting 4 times, nothing would cycle or move the bolt more than .75 inches.
Once I got back home, I disassembled everything, replaced the factory top cover with the a DSA extreme duty railed top cover, and reassembled. The gun would not manually cycle, no matter what I did I could not pull the charging handle back. I reassembled again and the spring bound up hard in the receiver and bent.
I'm pretty frustrated right now that my $1900 FAL will not work no matter what I do. I have had DSA FALs in the past and had no issues at all. Right now I have a para that has a useless, bent recoil spring and a bolt that locks up .75 inches out of battery.
I emailed DSA, I'll see what they say. I plan on sending it back ASAP and letting DSA figure out what the hell is going on.
