Quick question PSA...why do you put items in your daily deals that are not in stock?  You currently have several that you never had stock to begin with when the "deal' started.

They probably had stock when the web page was created few hours earlier.

It is odd.  I was purposely watching when the deals shifted and specific items were added for which they had zero stock.

Like I said, when the web page was created and when it was actually posted to web site could have been couple hours apart.  They probably have automated inventory system which automatically post "out of stock" on the daily deal web page when inventory reached zero.  What would piss off people more would be when it doesn't show "out of stock" and allows you to place an order only to get a message later saying the item is actually out of stock and your order is cancelled.

It seems like when an item comes back in stock that the sku changes. I have ordered upper receivers before and gone back to look at them again a few days later and they show out of stock, but they will have the exact same upper listed with a different sku number. So if that's the case you need to check the daily deals on their page to see if the product you were looking for is on there.

I bet that's because they changed the bill of material (BOM) from one production/assembly lot to next.  For example, they may have used supplier "A" for the trigger on previous lot but they ran out of that trigger so they changed to supplier "B" for the trigger on the current lot.  Manufacturers will frequently generate new SKU for each new BOM or production assembly lot even for something very simple like screws or spring.  Where I used to work we did same as it allows you to track any problems with a particular component or may even find a particular assembly worker with sub quality work habits.  It's a very useful tool to prevent problems or pinpoint troublesome components...or to find good components or skilled assembly workers.  It just depends on how much records you keep and how well they are analyzed.
