What kind of steel is on the ptac upper assesmblies? 4140? 4150?
And how much extra weight does a socom profile add vs the m4 profile? I haven't bought a rifle in years and have forgotten some of the minutiae. I'm trying to decide whether to get the ptac middy with the 1/8 socom barrel or the m4 carbine with 1/7 melonite. The rifle will pretty much be a KISS range toy. |

Thank you for your inquiry.
The barrel steel varies depending on the model - it could be either 4150 or 4140. The Ptac Mid-length will be heavier than the M4. In general, barrel profiles progress up in weight in the following order: Pencil, ULW, M4, light profile, A2/socom, middleweight, heavy. |
