R&D though, has been going thru some serous changes over time...

i think this would have to use an ar 10 sized lower. are there currently produced mags, ect. on the market or would they have to design everything? i guess i could go for a 12 gauge ar platform, with only the bolt, barrel, and mags being the only proprietary parts. this is what has kept me for the tactical shotguns currently produced.

Im agreeing with you.  

12 guage, ar10 based upper setup, there are some mags on the market for this too i think

You can fit a 12ga shell up an AR15 mag well, but a magazine surrounding it would have to be paper thin.  An AR10 lower would work.
