Been skimming the website for a couple weeks and noticed I don't see PTAC listed anymore. Is PSA killing the name? Replacing it with Freedom?...

I see three .556 p-tac uppers listed not to mention all the other p-tac stuff. So I would say p-tac is still around.

I picked up a PTAC upper, back when the first "sewer pipe" barrels hit the street.  I was very concerned until I received  mine.  I am completely happy with it.  I have over 1500 rounds of Wolf Steel, Gold, XM193, and .223 and have not been able to get it to choke once.  It has been 100%.  It shoots as well as rifles 3 times as expensive.  I have not heard of any barrel issues since the initial roll out, but I realize the trashed barrel bell can not be un-rung.  I think the current PTAC M4 kits for $370 are probably the best current bang for the buck.

Not to sound like a noob, but what is PTAC? I just recently completed a PA10 build and have ordered some stuff from PSA in the past, never heard of PTAC though.

Please don't flame the shit out of me now......

p-tac stands for practical tactical, it is palmetto's budget line. Only problem I have had with p-tac was a gas port that was drilled crooked on a mid length upper. The fsb was partially covering the hole so the upper was under gassed, it was a easy fix when I finally figured it out. I Personaly just use p-tac when I'm building a range beater to keep wear and tear off my more expensive stuff, but in 4000 plus rounds I have never had a malfunction with it. My buddy has a p-tac slick side carbine with 2000 plus rounds thru it without a single problem. BIL has only 500 rounds thru his $190 p-tac upper, no malfunctions either and the gun groups realy well at 100 meters.

Nice! I'll have to look into this for a budget build. Thanks for not flaming me! And giving actual insight. Too many forums out there they will bite your head off if you aren't all knowledgeable on every topic.

Much appreciated

I got one of them also.  I just ran 20 rounds down the barrel and cleaned with a brush.  Mine looked like new.  600 rounds or so later, it shoots great.
