shows $435 for me...then add $35 for shipping and another $25 for transfer of the lower so $495...not a bad deal (yes I know transfer fees vary but they should be taken into consideration)

I never said it was their premium line.  What PSA is doing though is filling a niche that all the wanna be tier 1 neckbeards will love.  It seems to be working.

Not bad for a "truck rifle."  I'd pay the extra hundred bucks for a PSA brand myself.  But it is clear the cheap AR has dethroned the cheap AK as the budget rifle of choice.  AIM's Zastava's are $540.

Excellent deal right there that'll go bang. Like others have said, this would be a great truck gun/beater.

how can you go wrong with it? a 450ish AR 15 capable of 556 and 223 along with mil spec tube and m16 bcg.. where else can you get one that cheap?

i recently cought up to an old friend that had bought a gun  last year from his buddy. His buddy went to wal mart, bought it, and then sold it to him.

Its a Delton, Commercial stock, tube, civvy bcg, 1/9 twist unlined barrel.

He paid 1300.00 for this without even a sight.

so there you go.

he literally could have bought 3 of these PSA / Ptac rifles for what he has in 1 rifle.

Helped my brother-in-law build his AR.  He used P-TAC Upper, BCG, LBK, and Anderson blem lower ... with cheaper detach. carry handle rear sight he came in at $440

Runs like a champ.

If i count my PTAC i built for a dedicated 22, this is what i have in it.

PTAC black friday upper 1/7 twist.  = 179.00
ATI Omni Black Friday lower receiver = 39.00
PSA classic Lower Parts kit = 49.95
PSA 6061 Buffertube kit with classic 6 position stock = 49.95
PTAC BCG w/22 conversion bolt as well (split between two rifles 189/2 = 95.00) = 95.00

415.00 ish...
totals rounded. and were reflective of the price of the parts at times i purchased

Accessories added :
USGI  Sling at the PX = 9.00
KAC VFG  = 10.00
Magpul spare RVG Picatinny mount w/screws = Freebie
KAC 300m rear sight 40.00

475.00

not too bad for a fully kitted out rifle.
gonna add a 3x9x40 scope, and a pepr style mount to it.. make a nice lil 22 plinker.

so add another 50 ish.. 525 for a scoped dedicated .22 AR.

pretty sure you didn't get the whole story there.  Last year you could get a Colt AR for under a grand at wal-mart and the Delton was never more than the Colt.  Pretty sure the Delton was more like $699.

This may be a decent deal but I wouldn't compare it to a clearly fictitious story...maybe your friends friend lied about his straw purchase to get more out of your friend....

Last year at this time my Wal Mart had quit carrying guns aLLC together.

ARs were not touchable under 1000 anywhere around here if you could even find them.

I also got in on a sub 500$ ptac last Thanksgiving, except because PSA shipped me a bad barreled one TWICE, they upgraded me to a melonite one with a rail for free.

So ...
PTAC upper w/bcg and charging handle-299 (upgraded with ssg12 rail and melonite)

PSA enhanced lower build kit 79

Anderson lower after background and tax (local purchase) - 85

Magpul olive drab front and rear sight  - 75

Shipping for upper and lbk, 22$

so 487 Before sights

562 after sights.

So... ..
.......I also bought a 10.5 inch fn barreled PSA ar pistol for another 650 with a strikefire.

Edit to add.....are you guys not using charging handles?

I have always thought their patrol rifle / Aimpoint PRO deal was a good offer.  Sure, it's a bit more than what is shown here, but 1. they build and test it for you, and 2. they have to pay the 11% "grab your ankles" tax on the whole rifle.  So, blame the government, not PSA.

I remember being in PSA (Farrow Rd.) a year ago and seeing a guy buy a basic AR for $800...they only had 8 at the time, and he was scared that was all they were going to get.  It is obvious that things have caught up a bit.

however you look at it, it is a great deal and will get some people who wouldnt normally be able to afford one into an AR! so this is a good thing no matter how you look at it.  PTAC or not it still goes bang and is a lot of fun!!!  PERIOD!

Although I have no use for a PTAC rifle, It does compete with a WASR/NPAP for an affordable truck gun or range toy.  For less than $500, it makes an AR a no brainer.  You'll get a superior rifle and save a few bucks for ammo in the process.

perhaps i should have clarified. He didnt buy the gun from walmart. he bought it from his coworker /friend.  I told him his co-worker ripped him a new asshole.  The gun retails from delton for 770 righ tnow.

I was using that as an extreme example obviously of what folks were doing in the middle of the panic.  Wish he'd of talked to me first. oh well.

"Superior rifle?" I disagree.

A rifle that goes "bang" and makes a suitable truck gun is not necessarily a superior AR-15.

I see a place in the market for these, but because PTAC starts with the letter "P" like the word Palmetto, I think the confusion over the lower specs (particularly the barrels) is diluting the PSA brand.

I bet a lot of PTAC owners say they have Palmetto ARs because that is where they bought the parts.

Uhhh... for the majority of last year, no you couldn't. You couldn't find shit in stock anywhere until the tail end of the year. That's when mags were going for $40-60 regularly, BCG's anywhere from $200-500 and complete rifles were going for twice what they cost.
