| 5.56 Full Auto vs. M16 MPI vs. 5.56 Full Auto Premium, my question is if I should get the premium or if one of the other BCG's will do. This is just a KISS/truck gun build because I had a spare stripped lower laying around. I'm leaning toward the premium but I'd like to get some opinions. |

I added all three to the comparison feature in their website, they are almost identical it would seem. The only real difference I can see is MPI. I'm hoping PSA can chime in on this one and clear it up. |
| I have a PSA premium one. Has worked well for the 350-400 rounds I've put through it. Won't cycle steel unless THOROUGHLY lubed. Replaced it with a nickel boron BCG and now steel runs fine. Deciding on whether or not to start another build or put this one in the EE. Maybe they'll have an 11.5" upper sale soon. |

If you train/compete/range shoot any other will do. Some very bright minds are against HPT because it WILL shorten SIGNIFICANTLY the life of the bolt. For me, MPI alone is fine, if the bolt is from a reputable manufacturer and produced to the correct specifications. |

I can tell you that Colt HP tests every single bolt in their M4 product. They are also MP inspected, but off of the top of my head, I can't remember if it is batch testing or testing every single bolt. But for our discussion it doesn't matter because Colt bolts hold together very well. They are certainly not weakened by 30%-50%. Also, the HP test is done using mil standard M197 ammo. That ammo generates a chamber pressure of 70,000 psi which is 135% the chamber pressure of M193 (52,000 psi) and 127% of M855 (55,000 psi). We are not talking about 2-3 times the pressure. That slight overpressure is not much at all give the part/gun we are talking about. You can probably get similar pressure differences out of different ammo brands, bullet weights, etc. HighSpeedSteel |
