Anybody else having trouble with their PSA dissy's upper accepting after market "drop in" hand guards? I'm having a hell of a time! Damn diss won't take Magpul moe rifle length ,Midwest ind. or Troy! Getting frustrated...don't want to take it apart. I'm starting to believe the issue is the barrel nut wasn't fully tightened down? I know it's been test fired by PSA but the hand guard thing? the space between the delta(uncompressed) and the fsb is 11.5, the problem is for example when I try to put the moe in backend(by delta ring)first I can't get the front to fit like it's supposed to? same with the midwest gen 2 and the troy? I measure ,try, nothing? any suggestions? thanks.
I assume it came with the standard handguards installed so any of those should fit. Put the front end of the handguard inside the retaining cap first, then the back ( delta) end. Install the top half first, bottom piece last. You really have to push hard on that delta ring to get it all the way back.
thank you for the measurement! I checked mine...12 11/16!!! that's the problem! I was hoping that wasn't it....Called a friend and he got the same measurements you did. I bought this off the EE(as a never fired by owner, just PSA test fired upper) as the second owner I wonder if PSA would help me out? kinda sucks the FST is back so no matter what these drop ins won't fit! hmmm....

The Dissy Uppers have a tight handguard fit by design. MOE was the standard handguard initially, so they should fit. Send us an IM.

I have 2 Dissies with MOE hand guards. They are ridiculously tight. I added a section of rail and it took two people and a rubber mallet to get them on and off. Probably a good 30 minutes of cursing. That said...my handguards are ROCK SOLID once installed. Hahaha....nice! |
I have now tried five different "drop in hand guards" just to be sure...1/16th off(more clearance needed) with the delta ring jammed all the way back to the receiver on all of them! Nothing good is going to happen by forcing these. I sent an IM to PSA, I'll just wait till they get back to me.
Well, I solved my own problem. I ended up shaving 1/16 of material off the back end of the moe hand guard(the part that goes into the delta ring), Not the route I was going but it'll work and I can avoid shipping my upper. this will be my new kiss rifle- Measured twice, dremeled once. Now to place some more orders thru PSA!
