Just ordered some of this. Read a review, and people said that this stuff only comes in White Federal marked boxes, with the number: T556TNB1 marked on it.
My question, the stuff I got is in a brown box, not marked federal, and does not have that code on it. Is the stuff your selling factory seconds? |

Interesting I found this on Cheaper than Dirt. This is identical to what Palmetto is selling, but CTD clearly marks this as SIMILAR to MK318.
What is going on with this stuff PSA? |

From what I've read the brown boxed stuff is factory second/defective/not for duty use. The white boxed stuff marked t556tnb1 is the factory first ammo. So my question is; is the stuff they are selling as MK318 actually the factory second/not for duty use ammo? I know it will probably shoot, but for 15 dollars a box and something that I am trusting my life to, I don't want rejected ammo.
I contacted Federal about it, and will update when they contact me. I just find it interesting that CTD marks this exact ammo as SIMILAR to MK318, and Palmetto says it IS MK318. |
| Take this for what its worth as I heard directly from a vendor selling this ammo, but supposedly this ammo was allowed out for commercial sale because the lot it comes from did not meet the military specification for velocity deviation. That beining said, it failed the test by an avg of 2 or 3 FPS outside the allowable tolerances |

That is similiar to what I heard, however without the 2-3fps failure rate. I heard that the WHITE box is true blue MK318, and this stuff is defective/factory second.
I will wait to hear from Federal before I pass judgement, but right now this doesn't look good. |

i dont understand where these "its in a brown box, its defective" rumors are coming from. the brown boxes carry all the same markings that military 5.56 is issued in. (when its issued as 20 round boxes). +1 I'm running a range at Stewart in a couple of weeks- maybe I should post up a picture of the pile of brown boxes that will be left over, just to put these rumors to rest. |
