Recently purchased a 1964 SP1 from a dealer off this site. Received it sat and am happy with it except for the fact that it has a full auto type bolt carrier. It appears to be original because there are no notches in the carrier, which was how they were in'64'. Is it possible that Colt put the wrong carrier in it? Did Colt always have 2 different types of carriers? What should i do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. scott |

Check this link and see if your rifle really has a full auto carrier. The section at the bottom rear is really the determining factor. Some semi-auto carriers do come with sheilded firing pins. www.ar15.com/articles/article.html?article=31 |
| Thanks to all that emailed me. I knew that you guys would set me straight. I guess i'm so use to seeing a AR bolt carrier that when i saw one a little longer i was a little cautious. It's all legal though and the underside is an inch long which is still shorter than a m16 one. So much still to learn....man i love AR's! |
