| Finally bought a real AR15 after owning many other clones, found an SP1 carbine at a local shop and it is an all original rifle. The only down-side is that the previous owner did not keep it properly stored and the finish shows light surface rust on the barrel and other exterior parts along with something that looks like splattered paint on the receiver. The internals are excellent and looks to have been fired very little. I have been considering sending it to Mac's for restoration and wanted to get all you Colt experts to render your opinion on restoration before sending it out. |

I'd try to scrub the paint off and see if the original Gray anodizing is underneath before I 'd send it to Mac's. You can find older Colt 1:12 twist barrels at www.sarco.com or www.fulton-armory.com/ or look at gunshows. I love My old SP-1
