I first saw it on Sportsmans but searched and found that several shops have them listed, albeit OOS, below MSRP now: https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/cm556-16-m5s I know there have been listings for a minute but it seems to be coming up more and more on various sites |

Attached File Having said that, I haven't seen one so all we can do is speculate. Buyer proceed with caution if you are looking for a specific feature. |

It will be interesting to see what they show up with. Lipseys description says 15” rail. After what fonty posted, I looked a little more and it does appear that some are using a 14.5” barrel with a 13.5” handguard in the “stock” pic while a few while a few others have a 16” barrel with 15” handguard pic. Lipseys M5 I’m still curious as to what barrel profile will be under that handguard and if it’s going to be a standard barrel extension or a 6940 style. |

ETA: Show me where the Barrel, BCG, Upper/Lower are all manufactured by Colt and I'll retract my "parts gun" comment. ETA #2: Lower is advertised as "full ambi". Is it really full ambi? People say that KAC's lower is "full ambi", but it's not since there's no bolt-hold open on the right-hand side (vs. LMT, LWRC, CMT, Radian, ADM, etc.). I can't tell what Colt's mechanism is, but if they're using a "one button/two function" system, they may be having to pay Radian for the rights. ETA #3: Doesn't look like it's truly full-ambi. I'm sorry, I just don't consider a gun that doesn't have right-side bolt hold open as "full ambi". Clearing malfunctions is a thing. https://i.postimg.cc/qqKkHhdx/3-E873-B83-8303-46-E9-B910-005-BCEEE4-E70.jpg That's a hard pass for me. it appears in the photo that is a heavier profile barrel. Carbine gas system is good. Especially with 16 inch barrel. Don't know what's funny about that. Some will complain no matter what. |

MY PREFERENCE for a 16" barrel is mid-length (and Crane's, too) at least (and often rifle). This is exponentially so because I shoot suppressed (because I'm not a neanderthal - I kid, I kid . . . mostly). It's funny because Colt is like a dog with a bone with the carbine-length system. |

Take whatever an DI LWRCI is going for these days, and then subtract (yes, I said subtract), $500 and that's what your market price should be (LWRC is way more fully featured, and 100% built in house), then add in whatever you think the value of the the Colt |

I think it's overrated, but I have an SR-15 that's better, an LMT (well, two if you count the 300BLK) pair of LWRCIs, a pair of Radians, a pair of ADMs (ADMs are kinda parts assemblers, too, but they offer a somewhat unique product) and a variety of others . . . . I think there's some validity in the value of the Pre-colt-as-assembler Colts (otherwise I wouldn't have bought them), so I don't so much hate them as much as I scratch my head nowadays because what they used to have they don't anymore, and what they're putting together isn't that great or unique. I think they're in a tough place as a business, so I understand why they're doing what they're doing. But that doesn't mean they are what they used to be, and accordingly the market shouldn't treat them like that. Not trying to bash them at all . . . just hope they get better. |

All OEM-2's have been part sourced/assembled the same way since they became an active product. Other than cosmetics (rollmarks, selector stops, etc) there isn't any dramatic difference. |

Please tell us exactly how one version was completely different (you said nothing is the same) from the other. You are saying triggers were different, bcg's were different, charging handles were different, barrels were different. Not a thing about your claim makes sense. I know many members here have multiple OEM-2's. I hope someone jumps into this conversation and can illustrate what you claim. There were never 'different' OEM-2's. You might have a Rosco barrel instead of a Wilson barrel...or an F1 marked pistol grip instead of F3. You're just trolling or drinking too much. |

Can you haters please go elsewhere. We are talking about the M5. Go somewhere else and troll and talk about how colt sucks now. This thread is about the M5. If you don't like it then STFU and move on please I ordered one. I hope the ambie CH is on this one. Barrel profile? Still no proof of either. If anyone gets theirs or can confirm some things then please post. Thanks. |

I'm assuming your Bolt has MPC Barrels are different. Mine came with a Surefire War Comp from the factory (JUST KIDDING, relax). In judging from the rest of the photos I'm looking at closely online - I overstated the "nothing is the same". There are some similarities. There are, however, not as many similarities between what my OEM2 was and the newer Colt guns I've seen. So, while I will eat crow about overstating the dissimilarities on the OEM2, that doesn't invalidate my larger point about them being a parts assembler. If the barrels, uppers, (some of) the bolt carriers are coming from outside . . . . (and who knows what else), are they a manufacturer or an assembler? Please save the argument about "other companies doing the same thing." All I'm talking about is "heyday Colt" and current colt. If you think they are "as good" as they used to be at their, I'd love to hear why - educate me - I'm not unreasonable, and can be convinced. I'm not particularly brand-loyal to one company or another. I love firearms from companies that I hate, and I don't "hate" Colt at all. I wouldn't even say I dislike them. I have a real appreciation for what they represent and their history (and have Vickers' book on the AR, which of Course is unreal in what it shows about them). |

Unanswered questions I'm sure to have answered soon: 1:barrel length 14.5 p/w or 16" 2:barrel profile m4A1 was mentioned somewhere 3: Rollmarks 4: CZ in the serial number range like Dan Wesson 1911s 5: scratching my head on a 15" rail on carbine gas 6: CAGE codes 7: M5 only mentioned in Colt LEO\Military catalog and none were offered with 16" barrel . Was this a last minute commercial decision 8: 2k for the gun with a $40 stock? Come on man! 9: Accessories 10: Commonality of parts with M4 (lower parts and BCG) I have others , but that's a start |
