OP, to be clear, I'm not saying that what you have is not what you believe it is and I'm not trying to criticize your purchase. They are very nice items. And again, I'm just trying to make myself better informed.
I am curious as to how you arrive at the conclusion that those are Colt boxes? I only see a Clyde label and it doesn't appear to be covering a Colt label. Does Colt ship serialized firearms to its distributors in boxes without labels? Also, I know my sample is small - three -, but the three different FFLs that I've used for OEMs didn't even hesitate to record them as Other. Simply stating that what they were looking at, by law, was not a rifle or a pistol. |

There is a Colt label part# with QR code like comes on the brown rifle boxes on the other end not seen in the pics.

I buy those same white boxes from a local FFL to ship with myself and I normally print nicely on one end. Maybe, that’s why when you didn’t post a photo of the Colt label, I just thought it was a plain box that Clyde had put a label on. |

Quoted: Quoted: @Oxford411 OP- Sorry if I offended you. View Quote Not offended at all. I am very happy with my purchase. Clyde Armory, a reputable Colt dealer were taking these NEW pistol eligible lowers, putting "used" Diemaco 11.5" uppers on them and selling them out the door to many people as pistols. Clyde wouldnt do that if they werent sure of the legalitly. Clyde even advertised the Colt lowers as "Rare Pistol Lowers" on their Facebook page. I saved a screen shot of it. Clyde is GTG, so I believe em. This screenshot is of the first one I bought back in April, the other 2 I bought months later. So I have 3. Also I tried the 4473 "other" argument with Clyde on OEM2's I bought and they wouldnt even hear it, they all got transfered as rifles. https://i.imgur.com/rUHUtLj.jpg View Quote I wonder why clydes deleted any evidence of the colt pistol lowers from their website and their facebook...I checked back in april per your screenshot and its gone |

I was a little skeptical about the lowers so I called Colt and gave them the SN# of one of the lowers Clyde's was selling. Colt told me its was sold to Clyde Armory as a lower only and was never part of a completed rifle. They did not even assign it a model number such as LE6920, it was listed in their system as a spare part. I can't say if that proves anything, its just what they told me.
AU was selling some lowers and after the SN# was run it turned out what they were selling was part of a completed rifle that had been separated and the lowers sold separately. I don't believe Clyde's would fudge something like this. They have always been very meticulous about every 4473 I filled out. They don't approve it unless two people look it over and everything is just right. My handwriting is a little sloppy and they have had me make corrections on the form to make it more legible then I had initial the correction before they approved my 4473. They also told me Mr. Clyde has to look over and approve every form 4 personally before its send to ATF. I have no stake in Clyde's except for being a happy customer. |

Quoted: Just so you don’t think I’m crazy, plenty of guys are unloading their 6920 OEM uppers on the EE…. Apologies if I see that as a better reflection of value vs whatever gunbroker says things “cost”. Ultimately, my point was that people are getting drawn into what they believe is a “pistol lower” for a premium that exceeds the cost of a stamp, or just buying a 6920 OEM which some FFLs do transfer as “Other”. I also think the gymnastics and uncertainty around pistol braces make unloading an upper very minimal by comparison. OP may have his valid reasons too, but just because I have a logical alternate viewpoint don’t make me a troll. View Quote I suppose not. You have been around for close to a decade, so I would not call you a troll. But, I think you are not informed. The classification of a lower by an FFL making a transfer is not what determines whether a lower can be made into a pistol. I am not sure if the ship is going to sale on braces. I think that judgement is still out. I would think it does not look promising, and your logic is just pay the $200 tax stamp and buy a normal lower and engrave it / Form 1 the damn thing. I would tend to agree, but until the ink is dry and the courts have heard the matter on braces, I think people have some runway on the brace / pistol matter for a good year or so. My personal take is if that if looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it can still be a pistol if you can hold it in one hand and have a short barrel, but nobody every asks my opionion. LOL |

I utilized a $20 discount on their webpage and ended up costing me $179. I took some grief early on as they were some of the first CR prefix lowers. A lot of misinformation at that time claiming they were expanse etc. I also picked up two sequential serial number Colt competition lowers a few years ago 2014 I think for $59. According to my records I bought them from Primary Arms. When I was looking I noticed they were Cerro forge and they didnt have that big silly looking “C” logo on the backside so I figured what the hell..... I just dug them out of the back of my safe and snapped a couple pics. May build into a couple of pistols at some point who knows Attached File Attached File |

Thinking of getting rid of my Brownell's "spares" lowers (used, mostly stripped with just the original bolt catch and trigger guard). How much do you think I could get for them?

A lot of people bought complete pistols with braces, I have guns that are only sold that way direct from manufacturer. So if they are ruled illegal I think a lot would want the dealer or manufacturer to take it back. What a cluster fuck. If you bought any other common item then it was deemed illegal you would want a refund. |

I learned this week that Colt ships their OEM's as 'receivers' and not as rifles. This enables you to configure it as you want. If it gets transferred as a rifle by your FFL, that limits what you can do with it.
Also, we have been a bit confused by seeing 'M4 Carbine' still on OEM's. I was told that 'M4 Carbine' is still a manufacturing requirement for OEM models which hasn't been changed yet in the production specifications and probably won't be changed anytime soon. So, we will continue to see 'Carbine' on the CR series firearms and OEM-1 and OEM-2 will continue to have 'M4 Carbine' applied. |

Brace ruling has been pushed back from August to December thanks to SCOTUS and with the new Supreme Court ruling, probably never.
