Its a crap shoot buying online, I prefer to buy in person. Hard to do unless you live close to the store. I have bought 14 NIB Colts the past 3 years, all from Clyde Armory in Athens GA, got to see what I was buying as I filled out the 4473, otherwise you have to just pray you get what your hoping for, or turn it down at the FFL and send it back and pray the refund is easy. |

Thanks for the heads up and not to derail thread but how are these classified?

I have a CR prefixed SN lower marked M4 Carbine that I purchased in 2018.

View Quote A ton of these are now popping up on the market (OEMS) at the same time (all released from Colt at the same time?) with CR prefixes and "M4 Carbine" markings... it's not a big deal to me, but I'd say it's fairly safe to say that you will more than likely get that. We've seen runs of Colt rifles end up on the market this same way. Who knows why... receivers or full rifles held in storage for some time, or thrown together with parts from the bin. It's not one example, it's quite a few. Now those on those auctions are gone for the most part since yesterday. Sold through. Other than that, yes, I'd say it's a toss up what you'll get. |

As far as getting a “m4 carbine” lower, chances are pretty good to excellent. It originally started as cage code upper, I’m still sticking with its a crap shoot unless you see the exact rifle you are getting first, I don’t care what has shown on on GB. I’ll say the same thing again about the BCG. |

I swapped it for a new Colt bolt out of another new Colt that did have correct Colt proof marking that I had planned to re home to Cabelas anyway lol. https://i.imgur.com/9Sx69t0.jpg View Quote How much if you don’t mind me asking. But I didn't have to pay shipping or transfer fees, so worked out to about $1300.00, I admit thats not a great deal but Im not poor and i wanted it, so I added it to my collection. Then got it home and found it had a bolt with no proof markings. Oh the joy of Colt ownership. I have also since discovered both my Colts that have factory installed Centurion Arms rails, well, .............the rails are crooked. Not buying any more of their rails. |

I'll call GT tomorrow to see if they have any OEM-1S left. I'm doing an m4 clone with it. Already have the RAS. If they're out of stock I'm probably going to go with the OEM-2 from Arms Unlimited and sell that upper and keep the lower. Mind you I have a complete colt le6920 cage coded upper sitting around so I really just need the lower. Unless I can find a colt m4 lower somewhere in the EE. I'm kind of stuck on what I need to do.

Colt started marking all their receivers "CR" and dropping the LE.
There is no difference to them now. They send the same to LE or to the public now. No difference. |

Quoted: Sometime in the Fall of 2017 the switch was complete to CR prefixed serial numbers. I’ve been trying to find an LE EPR, which was released in the Summer of 2017, with an LE prefixed serial number. View Quote This is correct from what I remember. It also took a while for some dealers to work through there old stock so LE prefixes we’re still showing up for quite a while. Remember, this time frame the market was completely saturated and dealers were having a hard time practically giving Colts away so there was quite a bit of old stock sitting. The Brownells “spares” lowers were showing up with either CR or LE prefixes. They were mostly CR though. |
|
Since when did OEMs come with cr prefixes?
Eta: nvm. Had to catch up with all the comments. I thought oems were discontinued before that happened |
|
Quoted: Then that is deceiving because the AD’s show LE6920, not CR6920. Glad I didn’t order one. I was about to but something told me to hold off. View Quote Normal AU. Their pictures suck, they would be better off not posting pictures most of the time. To add more confusion the old 6920 was the LE6920, it had the LE prefix but also later had the CR while still being the LE6920. The new CR6920 is the “carbine” lower version. It has the CR prefix for now but could possibly change sometime in the future. Some people can’t quite figure this out, and makes it worse for ones that don’t really follow what Colt is doing. |

Quoted: Wow. I cancelled my order from AU late yesterday and ordered from GT and must have done it just in the nick of time. Figured Id save on the price difference and then I wouldn't need to spend another $200+ on a rail as I have a few Colt carbine handguards in the parts box. One thing im crossing my fingers for is that the cage code on the uppers are lasered and not the dot printed type. Just aesthetically better IMO. View Quote Did they charge you 15% restocking fee? Lucky you, I saw the other ad too late and mine was already at “shipped” yet all that’s been done is printed label since Monday.

My AU rifle hasn't shipped either even though they sent tracking, I asked and they said they are behind and apologized. I am not in a hurry so its cool. I will compare mine as well and see if they are the same, I got shipping info for the GT one yesterday.

My tracking number has been in "label created" status also, where my GTD order is arriving today. Take that for what it's worth.

My only issue with AU in the past is they put out a killer deal occasionally and my wife gives me the raised eyebrow from across the room.

This whole thing has been a cluster fuck of poor choices on my part...
I ordered from AU Last Friday when I got their e-mail about these. Saw this thread on Monday with the GT's price and was like well shit but I already received my shipping notice from AU so I figured it wasn't worth the hassle of a return with AU/order from GT but I should have because... I contacted AU yesterday to ask why my tracking# still showed "label created"? Turns out AU doesn't even have these rifles in stock yet. They stated they were expecting their order on Monday but its been delayed. I'm currently waiting on a response as to when they expect to get them? I decide at that point to cancel that order and order from GT instead but luckily I called GT before canceling my AU order because GT is out of both OEM1 and 2's for online/shipping orders and are not taking backorders. I swear sometimes that if it is wasn't for bad luck I'd have none at all Hopefully AU will come through eventually? I'm going to be royally pissed off if they don't! ETA: AU just e-mailed me back and said "It looks like your order should be going out today." Not confidence inspiring but hopeful |
