I have a LE6920 Socom that is a Flat Top and I need to scope it! My old eyes just can't handle the open sights.
Anybody have a example or idea of how to do it without removing the frt. & rear sights or should I just remove the sights and go from there?

Just remove the rear sight, it's bolted on. Leave the front sight alone, won't be a problem. I have a 3-9 power Leupold on my 6920, works fine..

I left both of my sights on and put the scope over top front edge of rear sight. No issue at all and the eye relief was spot on.  Used a Vortex scope...have many options within that brand for a great scope...especially for the older, more experienced eyes.

I've had a Burris Fullfield 2 3x9x40mm on my AR on occasion and you can't even tell that the front post is there. Just throw some glass on it and roll.

Did you have to use "tall" rings? I have a beautiful Leopold NIB scope that has been sitting in my safe for many years. I believe it is a 1" tube.

On the one rifle with the latest Vortex scope I used one of Vortex's cantilever scope mounts with a 2 inch offset.  The other rifle has a Nikon scope with a cantilever mount too.  Other rifles have red dots...

I keep all BUIS on all rifles, regardless of use.  Never know when the scope won't do the job and you need a back up...

Yes, use High rings and you'll be fine. Or just get one of these like I did...they work like a charm if you don't mind a little extra weight...they're made of aluminum though:

Very stable and easy to remove...and returns to zero pretty well...within 1 - 2 MOA I'd say.

Does the RRA Hi-Rise put the scope above the front sight, or do you see part of it through the scope?

I want to mount a NIB Leupold ( From 2007) VX-1, 3-9 x 40mm.

AZdsrt,
What mounting system did you use?  I am considering the RRA high rise cantilever or just the plain RRA high rise mount?
Any opinion?

Showgun,
Did you use the cantilever or regular high rise.  Would the regular high rise be more stable with the mounting hardware further apart then the cantilever model?

By the way, thanks for putting up with all the questions, I appreciate the help.

I just used the mount that came with the Leupold scope. As mentioned in a few other posts, no need to get the scope above the FSB. It's so close that you'll never see it.

Finally received the Scope mount and it ended up looking like this!  I like it, now I need to try it out!
