Post em if ya got em! Rifles, the back three are all four digit guns. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/91105AEA-C0EA-4973-8CE5-31BB25F7B2FD.jpg Carbines, the front one is my Dad's first AR from the Seventies. It's the gun that got me started on AR's. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/robertlee3rd/2A46436B-0DB1-470C-A4C7-4CA98ED09972.jpg Beautiful collection |

Nice! They're great, my first AR was a Colt SP1 rifle I bought brand new in 1971 for about $200 back then, mine had an A1 birdcage flash suppressor, no problems and very accurate. I should have not sold mine to get a Sporter II rifle in 1984 but I had to because I also bought a Colt 1911 Gov't model 80 series .45 pistol and a Springfield M1A National Match rifle at the same time. Later on after I finish my AR build projects for sure I will pick up a late SP1 rifle to add to my collection, I wish I had the money for an early 1960s version but I'll be happy just to get a later 80s model. |

What is the current value of SP1's? I'm just curious as to the general value. I have a few Colt carbines and always wanted an SP1 but I just never got around to looking for one.
I assume that some are more valuable than others? Were there different production lots or variations? Educate me! |

I assume that some are more valuable than others? Were there different production lots or variations? Educate me! Typical SP-1 rifles usually bring $1100-$1200. Typical SP-1 carbines are normally $1600-$1800. The early rifles bring more depending on how low the serial number is and how many of the early features they have. An under 5000 rifle with the pinned receiver extension, dimpled pins, Edgewater buffer and smooth carrier will bring $2500-$3000. Low 3 digit guns can bring upwards of $10,000. The early scopes are also collectable. A first year USA made scope can bring $500-$750. Electroless nickel finish ColtGuard SP-1 rifles will bring around $2000-$2500. Like all things, condition and rarity are the keys. |

Very nice rifles, all of them. ETA, is that a sear pin I see? |
