Does a free floating fore arm increase the accuracy of a 6920 AR? I know  free floating a barrel on a rifle may increase the accuracy and in some cases a pad under the barrel at the front of a stock will help also. I have owned a couple of AR's, but I haven't any experience trying to improve the accuracy of AR's.Anyone having installed a free floating fore end please join in and give me your opinions. Thanks,Rod

It won't improve accuracy as much as consistency - when you shoot from different positions without a free floating rail with different amounts of force applied to the forearm you can cause a shift of impact from the point of aim. The free floating forearm removes this factor.

Here's my Colt 6721 with a LaRue Tactical 9 inch free floating rails that I installed myself, but I also changed my factory HBAR heavy barrel with a more accurate Rock Creek Barrels, medium contour (same as SOCOM under the handguard), midlength gas system, 1/7, mil-spec steel and chrome lined same as Colt, 5.56 chamber, "F" proper height FSB and M4 feedramps.

Out of my three Colt carbines I made this one on the pic with free floating but I also upgraded the barrel to a higher quality that would group with precision hand loads from half to one MOA.

My 6920 M4 carbine I'm not free floating because I'm mainly using it for close self defense ranges so the improvement won't help much, I just use a non FF KAC M4 RAS rails with it.

My next upcoming project is to install a 12 inch two piece rail on my third carbine 6721 HBAR barrel, I would just have to either cut the delta ring or just remove it by just removing the barrel nut since I already have an upper receiver action block, vise, and barrel nut wrench, then after that just shave the FSB so my handguard would fit over it.

Just my opinion that I would only free float heavier profile like SOCOM and HBAR barrels because they're already MOA to sub MOA accurate, with the lighter profile barrels I'll just leave them as is (unless you want to minimize handling and sling bending forces on your light profile barrel).
