Friend of mine who received his LE6920 yesterday discovered that the shipping box 'was' the actual serial #d gun box...he was expecting a 'box within a box' like the good ole days.
His gun was inside the box in a large thick plastic bag...i'm guessing this is more economical than the previous shipping methods. Lessons learned: don't throw away the shipping container box...the serial # of your gun may be under the tape on the end! d EDIT: One more thing...don't throw away the plastic bag either...their is a small serial # label on it as well |

hmmm. I received my 6920 in February and it was shipped within another box. Must be where it was ordered from. My friend ordered his on Tuesday of last week (DSGarms i think?) they appeared on the website for about a day. They shipped on Wed. and he picked it up on Thursday. So, it was a very recent order of an LE6920. d |

Hacks will ship Colts in the serial numbered box and not give a shit. A couple years ago I bought a 6940 directly from Colt through their armorers' purchase program. Colt shipped it without double boxing. I was a little taken aback, but everything arrived just fine. The sun did not implode. |

about a year ago I ordered a 6945 from Clyde's and it came in a shipping box but NO COLT labelled box, only the inner cardboard sleeve and the bag.
Giant pain in the Arse for me a Colt collector. Clydes' never responded to my request for a Colt box, said that shipment came on a pallet with no outer boxes. I wound up selling the gun at a loss on subguns.com and I now finally have another one waiting on a Form 3. Kicker is that at the Shot Show, a nice Colt rep told me that had I called they would have sent me a box! |
| So can someone who has received a Colt from Clyde recently let us know if the rifle came with the outer box with its Colt model and serial number on it? While the cardboard box itself is not that critical, for those of us in states that have weird laws banning specific models of Colt's while allowing others that information is quite important to keep around. Thanks. |

Thanks. Not sure how recent you are looking for ... I have a box from Clydes that is the original Colt box with an additional sticker Clydes added to the top left corner of the box label end. Very "professional" looking - like it was meant to be there. If I have a picture I will post it later. This box was shipped inside another box at that time. eta: this was a yearish ago. eta also : post 901 for me ... |

Yeah, save ANYTHING that comes with the gun if you ever intend on reselling it. That goes for any gun you buy. It makes it worth a little bit more.
I dunno if my Colt came in a box inside a box. It may have, but it came from a gun store, so if it did, then they took it out of the box and stored it, as all I have is the box that it came in with the sticker that has the model and serial on the end. I found out that Sigs come packaged really nice. Looked at a Sig M400 the other day, it came in a box that had styrofoam in it with a cutout in the shape of the gun. Very nice. I don't really worry too much about the box that the gun comes in though, I save it and all, but once I buy it, the gun comes out of the box, and into the safe, then is put into a case for transport. The boxes get stored in the attic. |
