I found one at a local shop for 949.00 and it's in great shape........is this a good price? Is it a desirable variant?

Those are pretty bad-A!  Looks like a semi-M16A2 without the ridiculous sight set-up.   A cursory glance show prices in the 1450 range. Perhaps b/c of pre-ban status?
