| I'm having a hard decision on which Colt I want to keep NIB. I have a LE6920 and LE6940. I don't know which one I should shoot and keep the other as a collectors gun. Which one do you guys feel would be more collectable in the future? Thanks for any inputs. |

You do know what a 'collectors gun' is don't you? An illiquid item that's been taxed, and produces no income. Rare coins, mutual funds, index funds and bonds will give you more of a return on your money than buying a Colt as a potential collectors item, but if your motivation in having them really is maintaining their collectable status and since you don't know which of them would be more desirable in the future don't shoot either them then you don't have to worry ... I've been 'collecting' Colt for years, both AR's and 1911's and I assure you I shoot the crap out of all of them. I shoot them, enjoy them and maintain them and they hold their value, but my index funds will give me a better return on my investment than a 'restricted' rollmark ever will ... typo edit |
| I fully understand what makes a gun collectable. I have owned many Colt revolvers mainly Pythons and Diamondbacks. I have made more money on them then any index fund in the past 4 years. I was wanting to hear from some Colt AR collectors which one they feel will be more valuable in the future. Thanks |

I have a LE 6940..how could you not shoot it !! In all honesty, I would probably keep the 6940 as my safe queen. I had the chance to buy both from the same guy and chose the 6940 due to the flat top and the ease of putting on a scope. I think the 6920 has the more conventional look which the everyday Joe would be indifferent too as far as resale goes. I love my 6940 and I would be hard pressed to sell it. We have walked alot of miles together.
By the way..if that is one of the hardest decisions you have to make ..count your blessings...you must be living your life right |

Thanks for the advice. I do count my blessings in today's economy. Thanks again. The 6940 is the one I really want to shoot so I'm leaning towards keeping the 6920 a safe queen Then do that, but I would shoot them both. Shit tons of both those models in the market, so they won't demand a premium at some later date... |

All things considered I'm guessing there are fewer 6940's around. Add to that if your LE6940 is "restricted" marked.
My suggestion is to find a 6520, shoot it, and enjoy it. Maybe a new ARF mantra- "Save Both"!?
I don't shoot a bunch of what I own. A waste- maybe? For investment- no. I bought what I bought because at the end of the day it makes me happy to have what I bought. YMMV |
