I'm about to purchase Colt LE6945 w/ new style stock.
I've searched the internet but there's so little info on this rifle...
Even Colt's website doesn't have info on this gun.

Anything special about this rifle?
Is this model discontinued from Colt?
Clyde is selling it for $1450... good price or just a decent price?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

It's a brand new gun and very bad ass. It uses a MK18 barrel which is free floated under the monolithic railed upper.

Oh and if you don't like the new style stock, you can always swap it with another. Most people do anyway.

thanks for the info.
I actually liked the stock and going to keep it.
What's so special about MK18 barrel?
Is this model currently used by our troop or any LE agencies?

Glad to see the bayonet lugs are being machined off.

Factory MK18 barrels are just rare. Now with this gun, there will be more of them in the market, but it is still a rare barrel.

The MK18 was built specifically as a conversion for the military. In fact the first MK18's were just cut down M4 carbine barrels.

Not more than a couple weeks ago, the upper group from this exact gun was going for something like $1,800 on gunbroker. In fact there may very well still be some of these uppers going for that price on gunbroker...

If I didn't have an AR and was in the market for one today, the LE6945 from Clyde Armory would be the one I would get hands down.

are you kiddin around?   honestly, cause you been here since 01 and that is a brand new model and I thought everyone knew about  the MK18,

so you hang out in the AK47 forums a lot?    I  figur eyou are either kidding or must spend a lot of time on other guns then ar15s or sumpin. in any case    that gun is very desirable, congrats on getting it.    give us a full review of the stock when you get it,  and AFTER you shoot it a bit. not just on how you think it looks. the stock has been  stirring some mixed feeling to say the least

I must confess... I was never a AR guy.
My interest was primary on AK stuff and also HK firearms since I've a registered HK sear.

Since, I'm planning to purchase a registered LL, perhaps I thought I should start my AR collection by purchasing a Colt firearm.
I stopped by at Clyde Armory since it's only 40 mins away from my home.
I handled almost every type of ARs up there and I could not find anything better than Colt LE6945.
The overall size is about right and love the new overall design.
Anyway, I went back to Clyde Armory and purchased the rifle.
I've a Trust setup so I hope to get this thing in my hand within next 5 mts.
Hope I made a good choice for my first AR.

I want one with a 14.5" barrel, seems a like a free floated bbl in 10.3 is kinda wasted plus I want to keep the warranty on any suppressor I might use.  I have a 7.5" upper from a pistol I can run when I want to be stupid and make noise...

Not a 6945 but worth a peak.

It looks like SAW is customizing 6940's...

LE6940 Mod 1

Looking at the SAW website again in context, I'm saying it's *definitely* a SAW mod and not a production item.

As for the "SAW 6940 Mod 1" they have there, I have some difficulty understanding why the "custom gasblock" was necessary just to put a Troy flip up on the rail, but I guess it takes all types.

SAW has always been willing to do more or less what modifications you ask of them though, so long as you had the money to back them.  The biggest thing about that "Mod 1" looks to be the infamous SAW reliability package - not sure if that necessitates the custom gasblock, which might explain why such a redundant modification was made there.

Don't know what to make of the 18" barrel / carbine gas thing, either - a rifle length gas system would have been better in my opinion.  Not sure why they didn't just do another "SAW Precision Operator" or something rather than trying to shoehorn it into a 6940 receiver, but hey, I'm not SAW.
