A friend recently acquired a Colt Sporter Match HBAR 20" rifle as his first AR and wanted me to check it out before we take it to the range.

The rifle was not what I would consider dirty, but there was minimal carbon buildup consistent with about 100 rounds fired since last cleaning.

What I would like to ask here is if the pictured spot on the bolt face should be of concern.

I am not sure if it is just a cosmetic blemish or damage so I thought I'd get opinions here about it and potential course of action.

Bolts are cheap but I am sure he'd like to keep the original in there as long as there is nothing wrong.

I apologize for my lack of photography skills.

Looks like a small imperfection. Relax and shoot it––a lot.

Looks fine. What I'm trying to figure out is why you didn't post pictures of the rifle.

The rifle shot perfect today guys - thanks for all of the input.

Is it leaving odd  marks on ejected brass?
Is there any depth to the mark, or is it a surface scuff?  Pics aren't bad, but it's just hard to judge.
I think it is a non-issue.
