| My Son and I did our gun shop circuit today and in Gander Mt. we saw a new 6920. I was great to see a Colt Defense AR in a shop we frequent but we were disappointed at the level of upper/lower receiver flop. I know this is not supposed to matter, it doesn't effect accuracy, a accuwedge will fix it, etc, but it is one of those little things that bothers me. Are most of the Colts produced today 'floppy' by design or if you are patient you will eventually find one with a more acceptable fit? |

You were disappointed because you had an unreasonable expectation of fit between the upper and lower receiver. Loose by design... |

Most of the Colts I've owned had been "tight" - that is reasonably tight - rear take down pin can still be pushed using my fingers. I have also had a couple that were sloppier than Tijuana hookers.
If I had to choose between super sloppy and super tight, I'd choose super sloppy, because at least I'd still be able to open the sloppy joe's upper and lower in the field during a moment of urgency. My two Daniel Defense are pretty sloppy, too FWIW. I had one that was super tight (when DD first came out) - hated it. I needed a punch and had to hammer the rear take down pin to push it out. So I bought another one (and another one after that) and I made sure their rear take down pin can be pushed out without using any tool. |

I want to know how you know so much about the specifications of Tijuana hookers LOL! Never touched them, but I've heard of them Seriously, though, OP - that looseness doesn't mean a thing. One of my LE6920 flops all over the place when I pick it up, but it shoots just as good as the super tight Daniel Defense M4 that I used to have. ETA: the same can be said with both of my Daniel Defense that I currently have. They are just as sloppy as the LE6920 I mentioned above (one of them is even more so), but both of them shoot just as good as the super tight DD M4 I sold last year. |
| There has always been a lot of discussion on this topic. Les Baer AR clones have a fitted upper and lower receiver and have no play at all. Yet they function perfectly. The upper and lower "slop" on Colt's is not noticed when shooting but is troublesome to some people. I have never liked the play in the upper and lower receiver but that is the design along with the DI system which some people don't like either. That said if I am going to have an AR it is going to be a COLT. |
| Been following this thread for a few days, finally had to get my 6920 out and check it. The slop is barely noticeable, I had to really wiggle it to feel any. I remember when I first got it, was hard to push the take down pin out. Now that I've shot several thousand rounds thru it, pin is easy to push out. I would think that any carbine used enough is going to loosen up? |

I had to use a punch to take out the rear pin. |
