I have a loose rear sight on what I was told was a colt carry handle it's marked A 9
the rear sight is canted slighty to the left, feels loose and twists slighty left to right
my buddy has the same carry handle on his colt and his sight is tight
Can these be fixed, where can I get parts, or exploded views
any info will help thanks

There is a ball detent on your A-2 carry handle sight - that way, when the sight is knocked, it will absorb the force of the blow by actually moving and the ball detent will bring it back to its original position.

Nothing to fix.

Can you tell if the roll pin is installed all the way in and is it straight? Has it even been dismantled that you are aware of?

The roll pin is all the way in and straight ! I don't think it has been dismantled as I got it new.
The play is caused by the hole in the bottem of the sight being a little larger  than the roll pin.

Okay I see what you're saying. As long as the ball bearing doesn't come out, you're fine with it. If it bothers you though, you could always replace the rear sight windage screw. A new one would probably have a smaller "tighter fit" hole for the roll pin.

But if your current setup works and the ball bearing isn't going to fall out, you don't really need it.

HTH!

ETA: If you do replace the screw, when you take the windage knob off, make sure you take it off slowly so you don't lose the ball bearing or the ball bearing spring.

You might also want to get a new roll pin as well while you're at it. You can get it from SAW as well.

Late to the thread but any time the A2 rear sight comes up I always direct them to the Armalite technote on the subject here it is.
