I have a Colt Match Target Light Weight in 7.62 x 39. I was looking in brownells for a colt flat top receiver to change out my carryhandle reciever. I noticed that they had the the colt carry handle receivers in three differnet item numbered choices 223, 9mm and 7.62x39......... I never herd of ordering a upper by cal. ... and these are stripped receivers so it's not the because of the bolts size. ..... Anyone know why this is?  My problem is that they only have one choice for the flat top and thats 223 I don't see why this wouldn't work do you? Thanks for your help

well the 9mm upper is  pretty different then the 556 upper it has a different  case deflector and  dust cover etc..  and I imagine there are a few small differences in the 7.62  and the 556

and so ya know its not "carry handle receivers"  they are usually called A2  uppers.   Your post was a little confusing the 1st time I reasd it

I doubt its the case in this situation, but some match target Colt uppers had the caliber stamped on the outside (bolt catch side) of the receiver.

Several years ago I bought a NIB MT 6601 that was stamped on the upper.

You may want to verify whether you've got extended feedramps.  I don't know offhand whether the 762x39 uppers had them or not.
