So, I got the first part in the mail the other day for my 20" A2 clone project...a NIW Colt A2 barrel. This thing was still sealed in the zerust packaging. Now my question....

This is going to sound a bit noob, but I'm just learnin' here.

I opened up the package and immediately liked what I saw. It's exactly as it was advertised...marked "C MP 1/7 5.56 NATO" and in obviously brand new condition. Here's what threw me off...the plate that the handguards sit against directly behind the FSB is TRIANGULAR shaped...like A1 handguards. To make sure I wasn't nuts I looked at the plate on my 6920(bought NIB)...it's round.

Did I get some kind of bastard A1 1/7 barrel or will the round A2 handguards fit correctly under the triangular shaped handguard. To help...here is the EE post I bought from.....

If you look at the first pic closely you'll see what I mean.

Thanks guys!!!

EDIT: Please don't read this as some kind of bash on the seller...I'm happy with the barrel and what I paid for it...the triangular plate just threw me off a little. Thanks again!!

If you're using round GI A2 handguards, they'll fit fine.

Yup, My goal here is to build as-close-to-possible civvy legal A2 clone. I'll use Colt parts whenever available. That being said...I'm definitely going to be running standard 'ol GI handguards. Thanks!!!

Triangular handguard cap is "USGI correct" for that barrel assembly.  Round caps are for carbines, even the M16A4 comes with a triangular handguard cap.
