Should I go the Free Float route and get the DD M4 7.0 or just make it easier on myself by getting the KAC RAS?
Also, does anyone have a pic of the DD M4 on a 6920? Thanks! |

I went with the RAS because I'm not mounting optics on the forend. If you plan on mounting optics, it's probably a good idea to get something that "shouldn't" move at all. I would get the LaRue 7.0 though over the DD rails. DD rails are big ugly things in my opinion.
Don't forget, our boys in the sandbox are using KAC. |

I know you have many 6920's with the KAC RAS so I will ask you. Will the RAS eliminate the handguard slop that my rifle has with the stock handguards? |

The KAC RAS is the only "snap in" type handguards that actually lock down on the barrel nut area with a screw/clamp system. Now There may be others out there, but I don't know about them.
The RAS is so secured that I actually would feel confident putting a laser sight or optic on it. I can't move the rail with my hands... They are also easy to put on compared to free float rails, which require you to punch the taper pins out of the front sight gas block for complete removal of the FSB in order to slide the rail over the barrel. I've removed and installed free float rails and tubes in the past and it really sucks. I've never done one on a Colt though and if I was really hard up for a free float rail on one, I'd probably send it to Ken at SAW and have him do it for me. Also the KAC RAS can be had here in the EE in new to almost new condition for pretty cheap. HTH! |

I had KAC RAS setups on my carbines until I saw how well the LaRue rail on my LMT worked. I sold my RAS rails and I"m waiting for Ken Elmore to send my uppers back with LaRue 10.0 rails.
Why do you want rails? If it's just to hang stuff off of your carbine, go for it. If you want rock-solid, go with LaRue. |
