i recently had the good fortune to come across a never fired pre-ban early serial (015***) r6530. i paid $1100 for it,thinking that an original colt never fired is well worth  the money in name alone in relation to many of the upstarts that produce this ar style platform. got any ideas as to a value? came w/ original box,old style web sling, and 2 green follower d&h industries 30 rnd. aluminum(?) mags.   i would post pics but havent figgered it out yet! it asks for a url? wtf? thanks for any and all replies guys!

I've seen NIB R6530 Lightweight Sporter carbines between around $1,400 to $1,500 so you did pretty good with your new carbine.

My former R6530 that I bought in 1991 had no bayonet lug, large front pivot pin, no magwell fence, it had a pinned sear block, and A1 length A2 style fixed stock.

I forgot how much I paid for mine probably about half or less what they're worth today.

1991 vs 1993 era R6530

Sporter Lightweights were selling in the $730 range when I bought mine in '93.  Out of box configuration on mine:

No bayo lug
A2 upper receiver with M4 cuts
Standard .250 pivot pin
Large pin FCG
Detent hole drilled in magwell fence (but it came with screw type pivot pin)
Pinned sear block
Regular A2 stock instead of A1 length CS stock (the catalog shows CS stock––don't know when they stopped using the CS)

Early on I installed a standard detent-type pivot pin, replaced the A2 stock with the standard factory CAR telestock and played around with a 16" heavy barrel (but quickly went back to the 16" pencil barrel).  Switched out the telestock with the current factory M4 style stock a couple years ago (I like the larger footprint of the M4 telestock).  Except for the telestock I've pretty much kept it in factory configuration.  It's a nice, light carbine...

Is it the small hole on the mag well fence about an inch towards the rear of the pivot pin in my pic?

If it's that hole it means that your lower is drilled to take the military type push takedown pivot pin.

Some Colt models have these holes but the factory installs the two piece screw pivot pins, if you have that setup you could just get the military type push pivot pin, a detent spring, and a detent then convert your pivot pin, Colt have these parts plus also other brands.

It's easier and quicker to take apart your upper from the lower using the military push pivot pin.

Get spare detent pins because they're easy to launch into outer space, they're very hard to find when launched.

I use a clear plastic freezer bag on top of it when installing them so I could catch the flying detent pin.

As above. Get Colt pin, detent and spring from SAW (keep it all Colt). Little hole is to oil spring and detent so that it doesn't freeze up when water gets in there(that happens in combat).
Edited to add: Get price on a great rifle.

It's strange that your carbine which are a civilian model had the military type push/ pull pivot takedown pin.

The military models for sure gets the push/ pull pivot pins but what I've seen so far, the civilian and LE models are mixed.

My AR6721 A3 Tactical Carbine I bought brand new in 2005 had the two piece screw type pivot pin same as my MT6601 Match  Target HBAR that I bought the same year.
