My MT6700 that I bought new in September 2004 NIB from a retail dealer DOES NOT have a sear block.  If you have access to a copy of "Black Rifle II" it has pictures and drawings of the block.  It also states that toward the end of the ban, Colt dropped the pinned sear block because of manufacturing expense and the fact that other changes they had made adequately  prevented the rifle from being modified to a full auto configuration

No.  As noted, the reference states that the pinned sear block was dropped from all models late in the AWB period.

As noted by the others, there is no "pinned block."  Recent production models have standard push front pivot and rear take-down pins, chrome lined barrel, 1/9 twist and are heavy under the handguards.  They come with an M16 full weight bolt carrier.

Mine came with the "behemoth" compensator that made it look like a tank barrel.  I took that off and sent it to ADCO for threading and contouring.  Now the barrel is .755 under the guards instead of .950 or so.  This upper has a "square" forge marking...same with the carry handle.  I believe that is the sign for "Brass Aluminum Forgings" one of the manufacturers still doing raw forgings.

The reason i asked about a sear block in the first placewas i bought a new colt MT6700 a few weeks ago. my first AR-15 and i don't
know a lot about.them. .  i wanted to get a colt M16 BCG  as an extra just in case. i was told it would not work if i had a sear block.

with the help of you guys i see that i don' thave a pinned in sear block. what i do have is a thin piece of metal machined/forged in
the lower receiver a little bit behind and above the selector (sorry no pics, i don't have a digital camera and i wouldn't know how
to put them on the computer if i did.)

the thin piece of metal does not rise above the lower receiver but is level with it. would i be able to use the colt M16 BCG in my rifle?

i  hate to bother anybody with dumb questions but i just don't know.

yes you can use a M16 BCG.  only the raised block like in the above pic  prevents the use of the FA BCG
