| an AR15 A4 model? I want a 20" rifle with a flat top and want a COLT. Do they make one with bayo lug/A2 FH? |

The closest factor configuration would be an MT6700, MATCH TARGET HBAR II I don't have the information at my fingertips, so I'm not sure if it's a 1/7 or 1/9 barrel. They are not gov't profile barrels, though, they are all HBARs. IIRC, the oldest were actually on slabside, large-hole lowers, and I do not believe that any were released with both the bayo lug and flash hider. Most of the ones you'll find nowadays will be neutered, with neither. Your best bet at getting an all Colt A4 clone would be to buy a Colt A2 barrel (A4 barrels differ only in the "F" marked FSB, which is not strictly necessary with a rifle length sight radius, and are notoriously hard to find) and graft it on to an MT6700. Not yet, at least. A couple of us were thinking of trying to go through SAW to get them to make a limited run of A4's, but they will not be cheap, if the project ever gets off the ground. It would be similar to the SAW limited 6920HB models. As for LE, it seems that most departments these days are preferring carbines, many even choosing to go SBR. For better or worse, it seems that the full length rifle has become unpopular these days. It's no longer the "cool guy" thing to have. ~Augee |

You could make your own with all Colt parts if you want all that. The closest factory made model would be the #6700 blue label pre-ban Sporter that has all the things you want except for a bayo lug. Early ones had the large hole slab side lower and the later ones had the small hole A2 lower. They also have the sear block and shaved bolt. They only made about 18,000 of them in the early 90's. Most of them had a chrome bore, but a few were made without a chrome bore for better accuracy. Then after the AWB they made the Match Target model that did not have a flash hider. ETA: They were all a 1 in 9 twist heavy barrel. |
Not a flat top but............The last thing even remotely close was the LE only 6601's such as the one in my pictures below. It had a heavy barrel and I have since swapped it out with a Colt A4 upper.![]() ![]() ![]() Now has a flat top upper on it. ![]() You could buy this neutered crap and find an A4 upper for it. But if you are going to do that just buy any other manufacturers lower. www.coltsmfg.com/cmci/MTCompHBAR.asp |
